CLASSES
Attendance at dress rehearsal for Showtime 2026 (June 12th) is mandatory
For Modern, as of Gr. 2 onwards, we recommend that students study ballet to be considered for an exam, once old enough, enrollment in dance conditioning is also strongly recommended
Students recommended for Intermediate Foundation Ballet and above are chosen at the teachers discretion and enrollment in dance conditioning is strongly recommended
To honour the discipline of dance and for safety, hair must be in a bun for Ballet and back, off the dancer’s face in a pony tail, french braid etc. for all other classes. If students come with their hair down to class, they will be asked to put it up using our spare elastics bin
IMPORTANT BALLET POLICY
As of Grade 1 Ballet, it is strongly encouraged that students take 2 classes per week. Ballet is the foundation of all dance, and the divide between those students that take one class per week vs. two classes per week is measurable. The RAD has experienced this worldwide and instituted a new policy that all students in grade 1 onwards must take 60 ballet classes per year in the same grade. This can be done over one year (attending twice per week) or two years (attending once per week) We are in total support of this policy.
If your child attended one class per week this year, please enroll them in the same grade of ballet for this year- UNLESS your child is willing to take two classes per week, and then they may advance to the next grade.
Taking ballet is strongly recommended for future success in all other dance disciplines- and we cannot emphasize this enough! To be a great dancer- having ballet as your foundation is the best thing you can do.
