Musical Theatre

Musical theatre is a style of dance that combines movement with acting and singing to help tell a story. It’s often used in Broadway shows and is designed to support the characters, plot, and emotions of the performance. Musical theatre draws from many dance styles, including jazz, ballet, and tap, and adapts them to fit the mood and storyline of a particular scene. The choreography is usually expressive, theatrical, and character-driven, helping to bring the performance to life. It’s not just about technique—it’s also about personality, storytelling, and connecting with the audience. Unique to Lindsay Dance Studio, our students engage in live singing—rather than lip-syncing—as part of their training, with the goal of developing true triple-threat performers who gain the confidence to potentially audition for local theatre productions. Our musical theatre classes are designed for students who love to sing and dance, and who have a flair for the dramatic.
