Heidi Vanderzwet - Lindsay Dance Studio Teacher

Ballet/P.B.T.

Heidi Vanderzwet

A.R.A.D., RAD RTS, Teaching Dip.

For some of us, we discover our passions later in life. Heidi joined the Lindsay Dance Studio first as a student in 1992 at the age of 14. She quickly discovered her love for dance. Studying ballet with Stephanie Mackey (then Rose) as well as Jazz and Modern.

After graduating from local Lindsay high school LCVI, Heidi pursued her teaching career in Windsor. Studying as a dancer under both Royal Academy of Dance and Cechetti teachers. As well as, assisting and teaching the Royal Academy of Dance syllabi at the Janice Brode School of Dance and The Ballet Conservatory, before opening her own school in 2000, as a means of completing her Royal Academy of Dance teaching diploma. Heidi entered many exam candidates successfully as well as staging the schools year end performances at the Capitol Theatre. During her time in Windsor, Heidi also completed a 3 yr Accounting Diploma and Human Resource Certificate from St. Clair College.

In attaining her teaching diploma she studied the skills and disciplines of the profession including Anatomy, Psychology, History and Music Theory as well as the Royal Academy of Dance syllabi.

During this time, Heidi traveled weekly to London, Ontario (2002-2004) to train with Dale Yoshida, former professional dancer with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company, in order to attain her Advanced 1 ballet exam, which she holds with Merit.

Heidi returned to the Lindsay area 10 years ago having the good fortune to work (and play!) in the studio where she spent her teenage years and to begin her family. Now, her own daughter, a dancer as well, has the opportunity to learn and grow in the caring hands of the Lindsay Dance Studio team.

With 20 years of experience, Heidi participates annually in Continuing Professional Development courses through the Royal Academy of Dance.During 2018 she successfully completed her certification in the internationally recognized program Progressing Ballet Technique. As well as becoming an Associate member of the Royal Academy of Dance through successfully attaining her Advanced 2 with Distinction. She thoroughly enjoys learning and bringing new training methods to the studio and is always looking forward to future projects.
